How to perform a search

Use the search bar at the top of the page to update the map and event detail view with events and reports affecting a specific place or stretch of highway.

Select a search type

  1. To select a search type, simply expand the “Search by” button next to the search bar
  2. Select one of the following search types from the dropdown:
    • Search specific place.
    • Search a custom route.
    • Search a predefined area.
    • Search a drawn custom area.

Search a specific route

You can define a route using the “Custom route” search type.

  1. Type a city or address in the field.
  2. Type a city or address in the field.
  3. Choose one of the following travel methods:
    • Drive
    • Walk
    • Bike
    • Bus
  4. Press Enter ⏎ or click search .

You can also set your custom route using the map.

  1. Right-click the desired starting location on the map to bring up a menu.
  2. Choose “Start route here” to set the starting location.
  3. Right-click the desired ending location on the map to bring up the menu again.
  4. Choose “End route here” to set the ending location.
  5. Choose one of the following travel methods:
    • Drive
    • Walk
    • Bike
    • Bus
  6. Press Enter ⏎ or click search .

Search a specific place

You can search for any geographic area, landmark, or address, as recognized by Google.

  1. In the search type dropdown, click or tap the ‘Place’ search type.
  2. Type a place, landmark, or address.
  3. Press Enter ⏎ or click search .

Search a predefined area

You can search from a list of predefined areas.

  1. In the search type dropdown, click or tap the ‘Predefined Area’ search type.
  2. Select from the list of predefined areas (e.g. Panhandle).
  3. Press Enter ⏎ or click search .

Draw a custom search area

You can define a search using the “Draw Custom ARea” search type.

  1. Click and drag on the map to draw your search area.
  2. Click ‘Done’ to accept the area boundaries or ‘Draw new area’ to try again.
